Education Objective: This program aims to train future world-class geoscientist who have solid discipline knowledge, broad international vision and great English communication skills. The graduates are required to master fundamental theories, techniques, and methods for Earth Science,have solid fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science,proficiency in English for routine life and professional work, ambitious with innovative ideas and good science and humanistic quality. The graduate are expected to continue their postgraduate study in international leading research institutes or universities and become sophisticated professionals, some of whom may play a leading role with innovative research in geoscience.
Graduation Requirements:
1. A solid foundation in science: student should master fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and logical thinking.
2. Professional foundation: master the fundamental theories in earth and environmental sciences; should be able to identify common geological phenomenon and master geological field skills; know how to use analytical instruments, and analyze data; have the potential to be engaged in the research work of structural geology, rocks and minerals, and stratigraphy and paleontology.
3. Research ability: understand the frontier of the discipline, with comprehensive analytical ability; grasp common analytical techniques and can apply these methods to solve scientific questions in structural geology, mineralogy, petrology, stratigraphy and paleontology, and planetary science.
4. Scientific literacy: have the spirit of hardship and preciseness, have a broad international vision and strong ability of comprehensive analysis; have the ability of team work and organization and management.
5. Proficiency in international communication:master a foreign language with proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing; understand the international frontiers of earth sciences; have a global perspective and strong international communication skills.
6. Independent learning ability and sense of innovation: can actively carry out independent learning according to their own development and social needs, with a sense of life-time learning; be aware of the research frontier of the discipline and national goals; have a strong sense of innovation.
